Our Story

History & Legacy
Kamana Group was born from a deep love for exploration and a passion for creating meaningful experiences. The journey began with our founder, Irham, who spent years traveling across Indonesia and beyond, seeking adventure and inspiration. From backpacking through Aceh, exploring the vast landscapes of Sumatra and Java, venturing to the beautiful islands of Nusa Tenggara Timur, to experiencing the unique cultures of Sulawesi—from Kendari, Manado, and Gorontalo to Makassar—and the untouched beauty of Papua, his travels became the foundation of what Kamana Group stands for today. His passion for adventure extended internationally, with journeys through Southeast Asia, including Singapore, Vietnam, and Thailand, as well as India, Jammu & Kashmir, Hong Kong, Macau, China, and a one-year working and exploration experience in Australia.
In 2016, after facing bankruptcy in the food and beverage business in Bandung, Irham and his wife took a trip to Belitung that would change everything. Inspired by the idea of helping fellow travelers discover and explore the hidden beauty of Labuan Bajo—an area that, at the time, was still largely unknown and lacked sufficient travel information—he combined his experiences as a travel blogger with a vision to make travel more accessible. This led to the creation of a blog about Labuan Bajo and the launch of curated travel packages in partnership with local communities. The response exceeded all expectations, and from this success, Kamana Trip, the first brand under Kamana Group, was born.
For the next three years, Kamana Trip grew steadily as a trusted tour operator in Labuan Bajo. By 2019, the dream expanded even further with the creation of Segara Liveaboard, our own handcrafted phinisi boat designed to offer unique sailing experiences across the Komodo National Park. Segara Liveaboard quickly became both a family-owned business and a flagship representation of Kamana Group’s commitment to excellence in travel experiences.
The global pandemic in 2021 brought new challenges, forcing the company to adopt a survival mindset. However, from this period of uncertainty, innovation was born. Together with partners from Jakarta, Kamana Group launched Camper Republik, an outdoor travel experience designed for the era of social distancing. Camper Republik quickly became a popular choice for travelers seeking safe and private adventures during the pandemic, with operations expanding to Bali, Jakarta, and Yogyakarta.
As the world recovered, Kamana Group continued to evolve. In 2024, with the support of shareholders and investors, the company diversified further by launching HUBS Hostel, a modern social and adventure-focused hostel concept based in Yogyakarta. This new venture is now expanding to other key cities, including Jakarta, Bandung, and Bali, with the vision of creating unique and comfortable spaces for travelers from around the globe.
Looking ahead, Kamana Group aims to go beyond travel and hospitality. Driven by Irham’s lifelong passion for football, we are preparing to enter the sports industry with a focus on developing youth football academies and organizing prestigious sporting events, all dedicated to nurturing the future of Indonesian football. In addition, we plan to strengthen our retail division, specializing in products related to sports and lifestyle, as part of our mission to create a well-rounded and impactful brand ecosystem.
From a personal passion for travel to a growing group of businesses that inspire, connect, and create memorable experiences, Kamana Group’s journey is a testament to resilience, vision, and the belief that passion can turn challenges into opportunities.
